Medical Assistant

This curriculum trains the student to assist the physician in medical procedures, medical records, and clerical duties in the physician's office, hospital and in other medical institutions.

Description

The required  externship  in this course provides practical experience in a medical environment. In order to enroll in this program, a prospective student must possess a high school diploma or equivalent certification or qualify as a career pathway student.  To successfully complete this training, the student must have an overall GPA of 2.0 and complete all required courses.  Upon successful completion of this program, the graduate is awarded a certificate in Medical Assistant.  She/he is not required, but is strongly encouraged to take the certification test from the National Healthcare Association (NHA).  If she/he passes this test, she/he becomes  [Nationally] certified in the tested discipline.
